What
is my dog's daily schedule?
The first thing that happens when we arrive in the morning is
that each dog's door is opened for a quick trip outside to their
own private patio area. It's important to get outside as soon
as someone wakes you up!
While the staff begins giving morning medicines and preparing
to open the lobby, the first "play groups" get started.
The outside gate of each kennel opens directly into the play yard.
We have 3 separate play yards, so 3 play groups can be out at
once. We find that our dogs love the social interaction of a play
group that is tailored just for them. We have play groups for
everyone: there is a large, rough-housing group; a middle-of-the-road
group for medium size dogs; a quiet, small-dog group; a feisty,
not-so-quiet, small dog group; and a senior group. Everybody gets
a turn in the play yard! Take a look at the dogs below
having a great time in the play yard!
After
play time, it's either time for grooming or a quiet rest-time
until noon. At noon, it's lunch time!
After lunch there is another quiet time (time to digest) until
afternoon play time starts.
Don't worry, - if your dog is not a "social butterfly"
they can enjoy their play time alone, with a staff member, or
with just one other like-minded canine friend!
Play time is the #1 attraction at our kennel for almost all of
our guests. Our philosophy is that "tired dogs make happy
dogs and even happier owners!"
What
should I bring for my pet?
Dogs: Please have your dog on a leash when you arrive at
the kennel. Also, your dog will love to have something from home.
Bring a toy, a favorite nylabone, your dog's own bed, or a favorite
blanket or towel. Please do not bring rawhides, pig ears, or any
other bone that can be quickly chewed up and cause choking or
digestive upsets. Bring your dog's own food if they are on a special
veterinary or allergy diet. If your dog does not require a special
diet, we will feed them Eukanuba Low Residue diet which is formulated
for sensitive stomachs and is easy to digest. We find that dogs
are under some stress when they are away from home, and the Low
Residue food helps to keep their stomachs happy. We generally
feed our dogs once a day, at noon, but we are flexible about special
needs diets and we will adjust feeding times for your dog if necessary.
If your dog is on medication, please let us know when you make
your reservation and bring all instructions along.
Cats: Please bring kitty in a secure carrier. Cats appreciate
having a small blanket or towel from home, and a favorite toy
or two. If your cat is on a special diet, please bring their food.
We normally feed a mix of Iams/Eukanuba. Cats are fed at least
2 times per day. We try to make sure that they never run out of
food. If your cat is on medication, please let us know when you
make your reservation and bring all instructions along.
What
happens if my pet needs veterinary attention?
We will try to reach you for instructions if at all possible.
If your veterinarian is accessible, we will try to take your pet
there. Some veterinarians will come to us. If your veterinarian
is unavailable, we have several local veterinarians that we can
access at anytime. Remember, we will always try to reach the owner
or the owner's alternate contact when any medical situation arises.
It's very important that you give us complete information about
how to reach you in case a medical decision must be made. Also,
each owner must sign an agreement that they will be financially
responsible for their pet's medical expenses should the need arise.
